CPA handoff

The conversation where you forward the year-end report to your CPA or tax professional and let them apply Publication 502, IRC § 213, the AGI floor math, and the itemize-versus-standard math to your full medical picture. Gluten Hero produces the documentation; the professional decides the return.

CPA handoff is the conversation where a household forwards the year-end report to a CPA or tax professional and lets the professional apply Publication 502, IRC § 213, the AGI floor math, and the itemize-versus-standard math to the household's full medical picture. Gluten Hero produces the documentation; the professional decides the return.

The handoff has a natural rhythm. Send the report in mid-to-late January, after December is fully logged and before the professional's peak season. The PDF and CSV are produced from Gluten Hero's Reports tab; the Share Report button emails both files directly, with the reply-to set to the household's own email.

What the professional usually asks back. Three or four questions are common. Do you have a written diagnosis and a written instruction to follow a gluten-free diet (the diagnosis and the clinical letter or chart note). How did you arrive at the premium number (Gluten Hero's comparable basket method, with item-level GF and regular prices). Did you include restaurant meals (the Restaurant venue type in Log Items captures these separately; the substantiation is coarser than grocery and the professional may scope it differently). And, sometimes, a sample of underlying receipts. Gluten Hero stores the per-item detail; the professional can ask for the CSV to look at it directly.

After the first handoff, future years are shorter conversations. The professional already understands the method, the chain, and the household; the second year is "here is the report, anything different from last year." Compare tab on Gluten Hero gives the year-over-year delta the professional usually opens with.
